Three things make the first conversation useful. Where it is — which wall, and whether that wall has ground against it outside. How high it goes — whether the damp stops at a fairly level line or spreads without a clear edge. What changed — new paving, a rendered plinth, a raised garden bed, a neighbour's driveway, or a renovation. That history is frequently the diagnosis on its own.
A photograph is worth more than a paragraph. If you can send one of the affected wall and one of the ground immediately outside it, that often tells a specialist more than a phone call does.
We reply the same working day, confirm what the assessment involves and what if anything it costs, and arrange a time. You get the finding in writing. If it turns out not to be rising damp, you get told that, and there is nothing further to pay.
